INTRODUCTION

Recently re-born out of a long tradition of bicycle riding in the area, Christchurch Bicycle Club (CBC) is primarily a social cycling club. Whether you would just like a gentle ride out to a New Forest cafe every Saturday, for a good old chat with a variety of friendly cyclists, or wish for something a little more challenging, CBC can offer you the fellowship of others with a similar interest

Every Thursday, you can discover the back lanes and wildlife of the beautiful New Forest or gaze at the stunning scenery of the Purbecks, as CBC members organise and lead rides of between 30 and 70 miles into the surrounding countryside throughout the year. There are regular stops for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea at delightful establishments en route.

Christchurch Bicycle Club is affiliated to the Cyclists Touring Club (CTC) and has strong links with the local sections of the CTC. Many of its members take part in and support local CTC events. You can join other members of CBC on one of the many 100k randonees organised by the CTC in the area.

If you want to test your speed against the clock, CBC is a also affiliated to the Cycling Time Trials (CTT) organisation and to Bournemouth & District Women's Cycling Association (B&DWCA), allowing you to take advantage of the many time trials organised in the area. Just for fun, you could have a go at the CBC Hill Climb or Freewheeling Contest.

CBC also organises a wide variety of social events, with at least one in most months of the year. For example, in the next few months, you can join us for a presentation "USA Coast to Coast" a "Night at the Dogs", a "Pudding Club" evening, our "Christmas Dinner" or a traditional (well nearly) "Burns Night Supper", or just drop in to an informal evening for a chat. Go to our Social page to find out what is on and when.

Whether you are new to cycling, returning to it after a few years break, or are already a regular, if you want to find out what is on offer in the area that you can join in, need help with maintaining or adjusting your bike, or just want someone to discuss the merits of the latest cycling technology with, CBC members can help.

To find out where our regular ride is going this week, go to our Rides page, or to talk someone from the club go to our Contacts page.
