Conditions such as gale force winds, rain, fog, ice or snow can seriously compromise ride enjoyment and group safety. Rides may be abandoned, re-routed or cancelled at short notice.
If weather conditions are poor at the advertised start time for a ride, the ride leader may elect to start the ride 1 hour later (e.g. 10:30) if conditions have improved sufficiently.
Please check with whoever is likely to be leading the ride under either of these circumstances.
If you have not ridden for a while you will have lost some fitness. Although rides go at the pace of the slowest rider, please be considerate to the regular riders by choosing a sensible ride distance in suitable conditions to start again. You can always just ride to coffee or choose one of the other rides to get your fitness back up.

Tuesday Evening Rides 2010

Will start on April 13th 2010

Every Tuesday at 19:00 (until the end of August)

Meet in Sainsbury's (Christchurch by-pass) car park east corner (opposite the Shell garage) for various routes of 15 to 25 miles / 1 to 2 hours

The pace/ distance/ duration of the ride will be dependent upon availabilty of light over the summer but in any case will be to suit whoever turns up on the evening.

I may not always be able to lead the ride and I will be looking for volunteers!

Please bring lights just in case of any unforseen delay on the ride.

If it is raining hard or very windy please call me (Stephen Gray on 07710 201358) to check if the ride is going ahead.

The CTC Saturday Ride

This is an informal CTC ride and definitely the best way to get an introduction to local cycling whether you are a beginner or a seasoned rider. It is the ride that most Christchurch Bicycle Club members started off riding (and still ride).

It follows the same route every Saturday of the year (except perhaps Christmas Day) starting from Waitrose car park, Christchurch at 09:00 approx. (be there by about 08:50) and picks up other riders from outside "The Oak" PH, Burton at about 09:05.

The ride is about 20 miles with a stop at the Forest Tea Rooms half way round, where you can have some refeshement and a good old chat with the many other local cyclists who gather there on a Saturday morning (including Darren Kenny, our local Paralympic quadruple gold medalist).

If you are new, make yourself known to whoever is at the start point you choose to ride from. You will find most riders very friendly (even if they look a bit fierce in their multicoloured lycra) and they will point you in the direction of one of the "old hands" who will be happy to escort you round the ride if you are not comforatble with finding your own way from the route sheet.

Look forward to meeting you on the ride.

  Wednesday Informal Ride 2009

with Jim Hatton

Jim Hatton invites any member who would like to join him on an informal ride each Wednesday to call him beforehand on 01425 280889 to arrange a start time and meeting point.

Anniversary Ride

The 2010 Anniversary ride will take place on Monday 12th July 2010
